About event
Just weeks after catching Deftones in Boston, September 8, 2025 brought us the luxury of seeing them again, this time at home: Centre Bell in Montreal. From TNR, we follow this band closely, and we have to say it: the second chance was even more special than the first. There’s something different about seeing Deftones in Montreal. The audience here receives them with a particular kind of intensity.
The setlist that night was slightly different from Boston, which shows a band unafraid to mix it up and surprise fans following them night after night. “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” once again opened with full force, but what came after hit even harder: “my mind is a mountain” and “milk of the madonna”, more recent material that sounded absolutely massive in a room this size. “Cherry Waves” was arguably the most emotionally charged moment of the evening, followed by the explosive energy of “Engine No. 9” and the set-closing fury of “7 Words.”
Chino Moreno was unusually communicative with the Montreal crowd, expressing gratitude between songs for the warmth of the city. The visual production was top-tier, immersive LED screens that amplified every musical emotion. From TNR, we left Centre Bell convinced that Deftones are living through one of the greatest chapters of their career, and we had the privilege of being right here in our city to witness it.
