About event
There are nights that never leave you, and April 8, 2025 at TD Garden in Boston was exactly that. From TNR, we had the privilege of witnessing one of the most powerful shows of the year: Deftones at their absolute best, as part of their 2025 North American Tour, supported by The Mars Volta and Fleshwater.
The show kicked off at 9:15 PM, doors had opened at 6, and the moment Chino Moreno stepped onto the stage with “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away),” the energy in the arena was immediate and electric. What followed was a flawless journey through over two decades of their catalog: “My Own Summer (Shove It),” “Diamond Eyes,” “Digital Bath,” and the devastating “Change (In the House of Flies)” that stopped 18,000 people cold. The encore was crushing in the best possible way: “Minerva,” “Bored,” and “7 Words” closed out a night that lasted just under 90 minutes but felt timeless.
What struck us most was the band’s cohesion. Stephen Carpenter on guitar, Frank Delgado on keys and electronics, and the rhythm section of Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega worked as a single unstoppable machine. The sound at TD Garden was crystal clear, and the lighting production amplified every emotional beat of the night. If this is how Deftones are operating in 2025, their future dates will be equally unmissable. From TNR, an absolutely essential night.
