Mean & Filthy

Mean & Filthy are a four piece alt-rock band born and raised in Glasgow, mixing heavy, mean and filthy riffs with floaty, anthemic chords and warm vocal harmonies. Mike, Liam and Scott started playing together at high school in the mid 2000s, went their separate ways, and reformed in 2020 with newcomer Nav, naming the project after one of their dads' 1970s funk bands. They have been compared to Alice in Chains, Audioslave and Porcupine Tree and pull from rock, metal, funk, folk, hip-hop and electronic music. The line up is Liam Hill on vocals, Mike Parkin on guitars, Scott James on bass and Nav Saran on drums. Their debut album Lubricated Philosophy, released on 4 September 2026 and launched live at Nice N Sleazy in Glasgow on 13 September, is the culmination of several years of songwriting: hard hitting riffs and floating vocals on Shades of Red and Lizard Moon, positive energy on Sexy When You're Mad and When We Come Down, and a little Celtic folk on Maze of Hedges and Mo Cluraran (My Thistle).
