Tony Rust and The Mudhorses
Tony Rust and The Mudhorses are a retro rock band from Montreal, Canada, built around the sound and swagger of late 1960s and early 1970s hard rock. The band is fronted by Tony Rust, formerly the singer of Rusted, and the current lineup pairs him with _moon____eye_ on vocals and lap steel, Vincent Montpetit on guitar, Alex Brosseau Camara on organ and piano, Khal Blbs on bass and Michel Paradis on drums. That organ and lap steel front line is what separates them from the usual classic rock revival: the arrangements have room to stretch, and the jam band instinct is real rather than decorative. Their self titled debut arrived in September 2021, recorded and mixed at Studio Pavillon Noir in Montreal, followed by a run of singles including Vaudray Lake, A Night Without You and Tiger's Transcendent Voyage in 2025, the live album Live at Osisko the same year, and the Straight from the Board EP captured at Club Soda. Two singles opened 2026: Can't Believe My Eyes on New Year's Day and Nevada Dust in August, a psychedelic rock track shaped by 1960s Spaghetti Western soundtracks and a drive through the Nevada desert, played live since 2023 and only now committed to tape. The band has signed to a label with a full length album pencilled in for late 2026 or early 2027. Expect to find them on a stage or on the road behind the wheel of their 1988 Dodge.
