The Listros Open the Into The Otherside Tour Where Montreal Rock Lives

A young band of brothers from Toronto, the most famous dive in Montreal and the first night of a tour. This is the kind of show The Next Radio exists for.

First night, best room

There is no better place in Montreal to watch a young rock band than Foufounes Électriques. Every band that matters in this city has played on that stage, and The Listros, brothers from Toronto, picked it to open their Into The Otherside Tour. Me with my camera, a few feet from the stage.

They started with “An Ending (Ascent)” flowing into “Dopamine Nation”, a strong way to say who they are: atmosphere first, then the riff.

Guitars up front

From there it was guitars up front and harmonies that only siblings can pull off. “Parasite” was the heaviest moment of the night, “The Below” and “Club Foot” kept the energy high, and “We Can Live Again” was the one I was still humming on Sainte-Catherine afterwards.

“A band on the way up, in a room that has seen everyone, before the venues get bigger.”

Remember the name

Watching a band at the start of a tour, in a room this close, you see everything: the nerves, the looks between them, the moment the room is on their side. The Listros won it. The next time they come to Montreal, the room will be bigger.
