Mr Shiraz

Mr Shiraz are a groove punk rock band from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, fronted by Mikey Shiraz, who books the town's best known small venue, The Parish. The band did not start here. They began more than twenty years ago as an eight piece ska group, and the version people know today only exists because of a forced reset: when longtime drummer Rob had to step down through illness and a guitarist left at the same time, the band scrapped every old song, shut themselves in the rehearsal room and came back months later with a different sound. The first thing they released after that reset, a 97 second single called No Prophecy, won Best Single at the Pure Rawk Awards. The current line up is Mikey on vocals with Tori, Tim, Iain and Steve, and Mikey has said it was adding Iain and Steve that finally settled who the band were. Four albums in, including 21 Grams, Mountains of Kong and Glorious, the last of those released on 1 July 2022 through Bad Granola Records with thirteen songs produced by Andy Hawkins, they have toured the UK, Europe and the United States and played Leeds and Reading and Slam Dunk. The EP Avalanche arrived in January 2026, four tracks of melodic punk rock built for rooms like the one Mikey runs.
