Plastic Academy

Plastic Academy is an emerging alt-rock and art-rock project founded in late 2025 by veteran New York songwriters Mike Borgia and Shawn Sullivan. Borgia has been releasing music since the early 2000s, first with NY band The Treads, then as a solo artist with more than twenty self-released albums, and later in the band The Problems. With Plastic Academy he opens a new collaborative chapter built on his alt-blues sensibility and a stated five-octave vocal range. The previous record "Perfume and Plastic" set the project tone; the 2026 single "Hazy" continues a fast output cycle aimed at meaningful music over industry conventions, with parallel presence on Bandcamp and Subvert.fm alongside the more traditional socials.
